ABBOTT MOUNT

In 1914 an English businessman Mr. John Harold Abbot built a bungalow in a place, today known as Abbott Mount, which is situated amidst a thick forest of oak and deodar. From Abbott Mount one gets a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks. Abbott Mount is situated at an altitude of about 7,000 ft above sea level in the eastern part of the Kumaon Hills near the town of Lohaghat in Champawat District.

Places to visit from Abbott Mount: Pancheshwar, Patal Bhubaneshwar, Mayawati Ashram.

Distance: 165 km away from Kathgodam railway station. 455 kms from Delhi.

Unlike many Indian hill stations Abbott Mount has changed little since its inception. There are only thirteen secluded cottages spread over this private hill. There is a picturesque church set amidst the forest and an ancient cricket pitch with an unsurpassed view of the mountains.
