The Tiger is one of the most liked and powerful among the family of big cats. It is also known as Panthera tigris and is a member of the Felidae familyin the genus Panthera. Native to much of eastern and southern Asia, the tiger is an ultimate predator and is a born carnivore. The tiger reaches up to 4 metres (13 ft) in total length, weighing up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds). Aside from their great bulk and power, their most recognizable feature is the pattern of dark vertical stripes that overlays near-white to reddish-orange fur, with lighter underparts. The largest subspecies of the Tiger is the Siberian tiger. |
Being highly adaptable in nature, Tigers range from the open grasslands to tropical swamps. They are territorial and generally solitary animals, often requiring large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey demands. |
In Indian subcontinent, the Tiger is widely present in Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand state of the country and at Ranthambore in the royal state of Rajasthan. We have planned special wildlife tours for the nature lovers, which would give you a thorough look at the wildlife in India with a touch of culture and heritage of the country. |
